Frequently Asked Questions
Who are Shireland?
We are an established multi-academy Trust with five primary schools and five secondary schools across the Black Country area of the West Midlands.
Shireland Collegiate Academy is the founding school of Shireland Collegiate Academy Trust. This Ofsted outstanding Academy has a national reputation for innovation, collaboration and inspiring individuals within our care and we aim to maintain this reputation throughout our Trust.
What’s a technology primary?
Our curriculum provides a range of purposeful and real-world learning experiences.
By using technology to create exceptional learning experiences, we help bring the curriculum and learning to life with children having many opportunities to collaborate, problem solve and develop critical thinking skills.
In order to ensure our pupils become well-rounded, thoughtful and safe users of technology in an increasingly digital world, we have developed a robust Digital Learner Framework to set out our expectations for technology use across the school. This framework focuses on the progression of skills across the school in three key areas: Digital Literacy, Digital Citizenship and Technological Skills.
How does the Passivhaus building benefit the school and the pupils?
- Constant and optimised temperatures year-round.
- Lower CO2 in classrooms improving concentrations and reducing fatigue and the spread of germs.
- Cost savings that can be invested back into pupils’ education.
- Lower carbon footprint for building materials.
- Robust construction materials that require fewer resources.
As a new school, how will you handle the transition for new pupils and ensure all needs are met?
We’ve done this before and staff who have been involved in admissions and transition at other Shireland schools will be on hand. We believe that every child has the potential to succeed, and our approach is built on that principle. We are dedicated to providing a supportive and inclusive educational environment that caters to all needs.
